$139845 In value 1041 PRODUCING MINES Thore were 1041 motal-mlnlng properties reported productive In 1912 of which 532 were deep mines and 509 placers of various kinds This shows a total decrease of 140 producing mines in 1912 There were 470 deep gold mines 12 silver 24 copper 25 silver-lead-slnc and 1 zinc PLACER MINES Of tbe placer producers 111 were hydraulic mines 65 dredges 146 drift and 157 surface or sluicing mines There were 64 less deep and 76 lens placers producing In 1912 than In 19 Tbe deep mines of California produced 2641497 tons of ore In 1912 decrease of 165764 tons Of this output 2225429 tons was siliceous ore 408622 tons copper ore 974 tons lead oro and 6472 tons fine ore The siliceous oro output decreased 70198 tons the copiwr ore decreased J5 659 tons and tho lead
