Thursday November 23 1V78 Page A- Reception fetes Faulks Record Searchlight The Redding area Raptist Church Fellowship hosted a reception honoring Mr and Mrs Rolf Faulk of Central Valley on their 50th anniversary The couple were married on Nov 17 1928 in Ventura They moved to Central Valley three years ago from Chico where they managed a barber shop and beauty salon They liave two children Dr Ralph Faulk of Richmond Ore and Burl Faulk who lives on the East Coast A third son Elvnn passed away in 1945 Wayne and Jane White along with Charles and Carol White of Redding will honor their grandmother Mrs Bertha White of Oklahoma on Thanksgiving Day Mrs White will be 90 years old in December This is her first visit to California since the early 1940's Three new University of California Berkeley students from the Redding area have been awarded Alumni Scholarships for the 1973-79 school year by the California Alumni Association Glen Heppel Feter Waller and Susan Van Eyck selected by 75 local committees operating throughout California were judged on academic achievement and leadership potential Brenda Peterson of Redding pui-licipated in a speech contest at the California Association ol Resources Conservation Dsitricts 33rd AiUiiiai Convention in Santa Rosa Alung with six other speakers from throughout the state Miss Peterson a senior in Enterprise High presented a speech to convention delegates entitled stewardship as viewed through the eyes of a young adult" Cheryl Lynn Welker and Andrew Briar Sturgis were married Sept 9 at the Conununily Congregation Church The new Mrs Sturgis is the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Welker of Chico Her husband is the son uf 20-40 CLUB WILL HELP SEND RUNNERS TO NATIONALS Steve Scott Zaue Scnreder Kim Carter and Michael Weidlein Area runners go to nationals MK AND MRS ROLF FAULK They were wed in 1928 and graduated from Chico State University with a degree in account-ing He is employed by the firm of Moore Miller and Kvanhoe in Redding (See ELLA Page A-10) Irma Sturgis of Yreka and Kenwood Sturgis of Montague The bride is a 1975 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School in Chico She is employed by David's Place Chico l'lie bridegroom was a 1971 graduate of Dunsmuir High School When most families are sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner today four members of the Redding Track Club will be flying to the National AAU Cross Country Championships The four young people all members of the Redding Track Club are being helped on their way by the Redding 20-40 Club which donated proceeds from its recent haunted house to the cause Competing in Albuqueruqe NM will be Zane Schreder son of Dr and Mrs Jack Schroder who will be competing in the 7 and under division in the Pacific Association Championships and the California State Meet Kim who has been Pacific Association Qiampion for two years in a row also placed 18th in the field of top collegiate runners throughout the US Weidlein is Pacific Association Champion this year while Scott placed second in the California State Meet Schroder placed 13th in the 9 and under division of the state meet The track club has been in existence for three years and is open to anyone 8 years of age or older Steven Scott son of Mr and Mrs David Scott and Michael Weidlein son of Mr and Mrs Don Weidlein both competing in the 10 and 11 division They will be accompanied by one-haii of their coaching team Mike Silva- Regina Silva the other coaching team half will accompany Kim Carter daughter of Mr and Mrs Kent Carter to Memphis Tenn Kim wiil race girls ages 10 and 11 All four runners earned the right to compete in the nationals by placing MOVED! to 2770 Churn Creak hiving a RED TAG MOVING SALE OFF IN Dot 10) (ALL DOLLS TOYS ACCESSORIES MARKED WITH A RED TAG You can thank a woman for Thanksgiving settled?
